HELP: black screen of death

I own a 30003 R fat PS2 (very very old). I am attempting the "PS2 Game swap trick" by following this page PS2 Game Swap Trick .

Anyway I manage to get the "uLaunchELF v4.40" (latest version to-date) loaded up via PS2 game swap. I have "Free McBoot 1.8b Noobie Package" on my 128MB FAT32 USB pen. When I select FREE_MCBOOT.ELF to run I just get black screen for 2 hours then I switch off.

Anyone know exactly how to fix?

PS: I do not have any other devices.

Maybe your file "FREE_MCBOOT.ELF" is corrupt. tries with this pack. http://www.metagames-eu.com/hackchip/Telechargement/Projet%20Free%20MC%20Boot/Free%20MCBoot%20v1.8b%20Fr%20-%20Version%20MetaGames.7z

Just like to say that I managed to get FREE_MCBOOT.ELF loaded and installed on my memory card.

What I did was used the original USBD.IRX & USBHDFSD.IRX files from Free_McBoot_1.8b.rar - because the Noobie_Package.rar had different ones. Apparently whoever created the Noobie_Package.rar states that he "updated" the USBD.IRX & USBHDFSD.IRX files for better compatibility. Apparently not.
