I own a 30003 R fat PS2 (very very old). I am attempting the "PS2 Game swap trick" by following this page

Anyway I manage to get the "uLaunchELF v4.40" (latest version to-date) loaded up via PS2 game swap. I have "Free McBoot 1.8b Noobie Package" on my 128MB FAT32 USB pen. When I select FREE_MCBOOT.ELF to run I just get black screen for 2 hours then I switch off.
Anyone know exactly how to fix?
PS: I do not have any other devices.
